Glue is seeking to engage students, educators and professionals through relevant papers, lectures, conversations, and student work. Glue X is focusing on architectural pedagogy and the changing studio in a search for alternative methods and understandings of what a design education is. We have been working hard to spark a dialogue within the college through student forums but have spread this conversation outside of the college through debate, panel discussions, and interviews.

In a profession constantly changing and evolving through technologies, environment, and culture, we ask ourselves how education must reconstruct itself to match this evolution. Glue is critically questioning and provoking existing studio culture and pedagogy through a series of student forums, debates, interviews, and papers. As a part of this dialogue, we have invited five regional leaders of architectural institutions to participate in an online panel discussion led by Glue.

We expect a provocative and engaging dialogue, which will set the stage for further discussion and ultimately a change in design pedagogy and thus design culture.

Glue would like to announce its presence at the AIAS Quad Conference.

We will be hosting a formal debate that focuses on the architectural studio. The debate will be recorded and transcribed with the intention to include it in this year’s publication. We hope that this will be a fiery provocative debate. We are asking that people attending with interest in participating contact us ASAP. The forum will be framed as a 5 vs. 5 debate. The provocation has not been set but the focus is the examination of design education. For more information contact Jon Meier.
